From Trees to Roses. Products to Perennials. Best for Beneficial Bugs, Autumnal Tones, Spring Bloomage & Books. Easy Propagation and More. A Best of List from the Gardens at Little Oak & Moorfield.

Hello and welcome lovely gardening folks to Cheat Sheet: Our Top 3 Garden Everything.
With winter upon us this weekend in the Southern Hemisphere and our minds turned to preparing for the next growing season, Hugo and I have taken stock of our stalwarts and go-to’s in time for spring seed sowing, bareroot season buying and the perfect time for propagating and planning.
Starting “a garden”, or starting gardening, can be an overwhelming undertaking, especially if you’ve had limited exposure to it but trust us, over time, it can become second nature to even the biggest novice. This list might help you get out the gate with some sure bets, help you plan new spaces or make some changes if you’re already gardening, try creating your own plants through propagation for the first time or inspire you to plant something you’d never thought of before, in your garden this spring. This Cheat Sheet is broken into THE ORNAMENTAL GARDEN, THE PRODUCTIVE GARDEN & GENERAL GARDENING.
So, for those of us that have been doing this a little while and have been put through our paces by plant life at home and for me, through my work in nurseries and the world of horticulture, here is what we’ve learnt about what has worked for us. This is our Top 3, we obviously grow many more species and varieties than what is listed here and if you’ve followed along on this making of the Garden at Moorfield you’ll know our Garden Guides and (Moor)Field Guides cover much of this information in more detail and where there is associated information if you so want more, I have created a link to those documents.
Happy planning all, enjoy bunkering down, I have lit the fire, grabbing a warm cuppa and my cosiest cardi and am ready to settle in for a cosy weekend here at Moorfield. xo
