The (Moor)Field Guide: 5
First Week of Summer December 2023 - Getting Food Growing, Garden Visits and Fellow Greenthumb Folk, Irrigation and Chrissy Gifts for Gardeners.
Dear Readers,
My Gardening world has exploded since last we spoke, total immersion in our own garden has been exactly what I needed to reinvigorate me after the last month, along with immersion in the gardens of others and time spent with some of my favourite people in the industry. I have been photographing for our Garden Gadabout which I hope to have up in the coming week, I have been to a book launch in the most fantastical suburban floral paradise in outer Melbourne by author and gardening advocate, Jac Semmler (more about her wonderful garden at the end of this guide), as well as the sprawling Daylesford garden of Lily Langham, artist and garden designer.
As summer has arrived before I was ready for it too, we have been madly sorting out the Productive Garden situation so we do not go another growing season without access to our own produce, given the cost of living at the moment and eye-watering interest rates, it is a must for us, more about that below. And as the real heat is hot on our tails, we now have all the irrigation, on the most needy parts of the Moorfield garden at least, largely up and running and I can’t tell you what a relief it is.
We hope you enjoy the latest (Moor)Field Guide, thank you, as always for making the commitment to being here and supporting us.
Pip, Hugo and fam xo
