So many exciting and inspirational events for you! I agree about the information paralysis, it takes me awhile to absorb it all sometimes and work out how and what I want to implement. Quick question about bare rooted roses. We have purchased a new property but it’s tenanted so won’t be moving in till September . I am very keen to get some specific roses into the garden then in early spring. If I order bare rooted roses can in winter can I pot them up and then transplant them into the ground in a few months or would it be too much for them?

Hi Leah! Yes, it takes time to digest it all doesn't and work out what applies and what doesn't to your own situation. The roses can take it as this is a process many nurseries go through in order to sell what they haven't moved in bareroot, it just comes down to the care. To make it fail safe get yourself good rose specific potting mix or just a really good premium potting mix as they are big feeders and potting mixes are notoriously devoid of the kind of organic matter and food roses require to come to life. Use a 30-40cm black pot for each. Ensure any sawdust that the roses may or may not be wrapped in is washed and soak in a diluted seaweed solution, like Seasol before planting. Then you should be right. Feed them with a seaweed solution when you start to see new growth which shouldn't be long at that time of year and like all potted plants, that aren't cacti or succulents etc, don't let the pot dry out. Exciting times for you!! Enjoy!! xo
